UnionPay International is accelerating the overseas innovative payment service layout. Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia are the main regions.

According to the latest statistics, in the first half of the year, the amount of cross-border transactions of UnionPay mobile payment products “cloud flash payment” has doubled. It is noteworthy that more and more overseas consumers are also using cloud flash payment. The amount of transaction using local flash payment in Hong Kong and Macauis 4 times higher than last year, and the amount in Mainland China increased by more than 7 times year-on-year.

At present, UnionPay International is continuing to enlarge the business landscape and enrich the usage scenariosof cloud flash payment in overseas markets. Among them, NFC payment are available in nearly 500,000 POS terminals overseas.Mobile payment can be used in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Russia, UAE and other places now. At the same time, Hong Kong Bonjour Cosmetics, Japan Foodie and other overseas merchants also support cloud flash payment.

Hong Kong and Singapore has achieved the acceptance of cloud flash payment QR codes, what is more, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and some other countries which Chinese tourists often visit will launch QR payment soon. It is reported that UnionPay International also cooperates with many countries in Southeast Asia and will deploy wallet products this year.

The UnionPay QR code payment standard has also been implemented overseas. In Thailand, UnionPay combined Visa and MasterCard to develop local universal QR code payment standards as the recommendation criteria of the Central Bank of Thailand to local financial institutions and merchants. It can be expected that in the future, more Southeast Asian countries will use internationally compatible and more secure UnionPay standards when introducing local two-dimensional code products.
